My name is Brianna Sesson. I am a lower senior majoring in FNES and minoring in Fashion and Textiles while on the Human Development and Family Sciences track. My favorite part about being in FYE is encouraging and assisting newcomers to be more confident in college. I enjoy watching K-Drama, learning the Kalimba, and looking at memes.

My name is Etan Ohevshalom. I am a junior majoring in Psychology. My favorite part about being in FYE is being able to take away a lot of the stress freshmen have when joining a new college environment. I enjoy playing sports, specifically basketball, and also enjoy watching Netflix and YouTube.

My name is Faith Oyebola. I am an Accounting major and a senior here at Queens College. My favorite part about being in FYE is meeting new people, making new friends, and giving back by helping out the freshmen. I enjoy playing games on my phone and work part time at Burlington.

My name is Marissa Soomdat. I am a senior double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I plan on mastering in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Childhood Education, I would like to become a Kindergarten teacher one day! My favorite part of FYE is communicating with first year students and giving advice on my own college experience. Also, I liked that this program provides support to these students so they know they can always confide in us. I love trying new food and eating dessert! Apart from FYE, I work at a dance academy and as a summer camp counselor.

My name is Sabah Ahsan. I am a sophomore majoring in Political Science and minoring in Urban Studies while on the Pre-Law track. I’m looking forward to guiding first year students while being in FYE. I enjoy watercolor painting and watching slice-of-life movies. Apart from FYE, I am currently interning for a political campaign.

My name is Salma Razak. I am a lower senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Cities and Social Medicine. I am on the Pre-Health track and interested in becoming an RN. As a returning mentor, I believe my favorite part as being part of the FYE community would be the satisfaction a student has when I have helped them overcome an obstacle or issue they have dealt with in their college experience. In addition, the skills I have gained from being part of the FYE community has been useful. I love Netflixing (I don't believe that's even a word). The idea of being able to relax and watch a good movie is amazing. Besides this, I love nature. The combination of birds chirping and the wind blowing through the leaves etc is a feeling that cannot be described. During my free time, if I'm not with friends I'll be home experimenting with DIYs. This has led me into painting. Besides using canvases, I have painted designs on my bedroom wall which have come out so nice.

My name is Sarah Persaud. I am a senior on the Pre-Nursing track. While being in FYE I look forward to helping fellow students navigate their way through college given that it can be confusing and scary. I hope this program helps students feel more at ease during their time at Queens College. During my free time I like to play video games. Outside of FYE, I am currently employed at MicroCenter.

My name is Sneha Sara Vinod. I am a junior majoring in Biology and Neuroscience while on the Pre-PA track. I like to be a part of FYE because it is a space where I get to spend my time being with people who share more or less the same interests that I do. I love spending time knowing different people and helping them out in any way possible, and FYE is a perfect platform for that. It is also a place where I have learned many new things about my school and the various opportunities it provides. I would like to be a part of it as long as I can and help my fellow mates. I like to travel, cooking, and singing are some of my hobbies. Apart from FYE, I work as a pharmacy tech at Salzman chemists, and I tutor kids.

My name is Trystan Gardner. I am a junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Urban Studies and Anthropology while on a Government and Public Service track. My favorite part of FYE is meeting all the new students and helping them out to the point where they feel comfortable being at our school and doing things such as checking their CUNYFIRST and making their schedules on their own. It’s a rewarding experience when they say they understand what to do and that my tips have helped them. My hobbies are reading and listening to music. Last year I volunteered to work at Welcome Day which is a day of fun for the incoming students to get to know each other and know the campus.

My name is Uzaiza Khan. I am a sophomore majoring in Secondary Education English. I’m looking forward to meeting incoming students and helping them feel comfortable and supported during their transition to Queens College. My hobbies are badminton, photography, and experimenting with cooking! Outside of Queens College, I am an Explainer at the New York Hall of Science.
